It's similar to regular shepherds pie but uses a chili or taco meat base.
Not sure if there is a real recipe out there for it, as it's something I came up with, or stole years ago.
I put a layer of chili, a layer of mashed and a thin layer of cheese. Bake till the cheese melts and you get some browning.
When I had my catering business, this was my biggest seller for hot meals.
My cooks would top the chili with jalapenos or chipotles and mix corn into the mashed.
Topped it with a jalapeno cheddar.
It was a great meal on a cold day.
Goes great with a beer.
