If there were an effective treatment for AD, it would extend lifespans. Depending on the efficacy level, it would also create increasing numbers of users of the drug, as some people live beyond their previously foreshortened lifespans. So the current ~ 6M figure, for market purposes, would gradually increase.

We’d have many fewer cases of dementia and less need for treatments (ditto for many other serious diseases) if people would make some fairly obvious improvements to their lifestyle: https://www.cdc.gov/aging/publications/features/reducing-risk-of-alzheimers-disease/index.htm#:~:text=Promoting%20healthy%20aging%20and%20reducing,cigarette%20smoking%20and%20excessive%20drinking.

Prevention and risk reduction should be a global priority.
