Thanks for highlighting that Froggmister! There is a diamond in the ruff within the already excellent survival data.

Froggmister,

I don't think that a few months advantage in mean survival really tells much of a story. The real question is, what happens to those who survive beyond the mean. What would you say if a trial produced zero benefit for 2/3rds, or ever 3/4ers of the patients, the mean wouldn't be improving at all, but what if those in that 1/3rd or 1/4er that did get an advantage were found to be cured after years of being studied.

I believe in our case some patients my get no benefit, if that's the case people like Dr. Liau will try to determine why, and find another way to benefit these people. My point is that many are getting a benefit they only dreamed of when they were first diagnosed with GBM, they've been given back their lives. I can't say what treatment those who've lived beyond 5 years are getting, is their no discernable cancer, or are they still being actively treated for it. I suspect that many, like myself, see their Doctors a few times a year to check their status, they may still be taking certain therapeutics, which I am, but otherwise their lives are very normal. That to me is the biggest benefit being achieved with DCVax-L and all indications seem to be that if it's combined with the likes of Keytruda, Poly ICLC, etc. it may be 50% or more of the patients will get this benefit. Dr. Liau and others will continue to work on benefits for the 50% that don't get the benefit, but for those who do, it's huge.

We need to be honest, the trial didn't achieve 50% 5 year survival, it lead to about 14%, but it lead to trying it with other therapeutics, and with it we get there. For all we know some other added therapeutics will take it to 75% or more, the only way to know is by trying. The key is that DCVax-L opens the door to the other therapeutics working.
