Patients who enter studies generally are better hooked into the healthcare system than average population. The number of patients entering the study with untreated HTN or poorly controlled HTN will be low, not zero but nowhere near 47%

A great number of hypertensive adults will already be on medication, and it's unlikely that Anavex would have accepted patients in the 2b/3 with dangerously high BP; they would not be the best investment in getting final results. We also don't know how blarcamesine might affect those already on blood pressure medications. The n should be less than you suggest.
