The best play on coal bed methane would have been land. The farms who are right in the middle of the Encana and Apache programs have made out like bandits. Add up the payments for rig access, surface rental, pipelines, rig water and mud spreading-its unreal money. With the 40 acre spacings on the cbm wells the dollars we are talking are huge to a peckerwood like me, some of these guys with 6-8 qtrs and 10-15 of these low impact wells are set up pretty nice now. Downside is the compression and more traffic in my mind. Gotta put up with guys like me tootling around the back roads. A lot of new houses have gone up in that district the last couple of years.
