What a weird time it was, and, now many are passing away all around us with little fanfare. They served and endured a time of two cultures, one filled with drugs, rock and roll and other earthly pleasures while the other filled with hate, violence and a jungle full of danger. Those who walked the fine line in between sometimes suffered out of allegiance to both at the same time.
Hard to know how many of them were serving out of duty to their County or just because they were caught up in a draft system. Either way, none of them deserved what they were so clearly entitled to during the ensuing 50 years.
Let's hope that history treats them better than we have ....
