If you read the description you will see that this study was designed to assess how Vascepa effected a few important biomarkers associated with the development of Alzheimer's disease. In the description it is explained that the purpose of the study was to evaluate Vascepa and determine if larger trials should be considered.
After the start of this study, FDA changed their guidelines for AD drug approval. None of the patients enrolled in the study have been diagnosed with AD.
According to the most recent guidelines published by FDA, this study (if positive) should be enough to file for an approval to treat preclinical patients.
