The challenge with producing an intermediate pyrolysis oil product is that it sells at a discount to WTI. There is a significant capital cost to upgrade the oil to a take ready fuel or hydrogen.

Sounds like an interesting but complicated process... I found a video on the $CLNV website that explains it.

Pyrolysis is a “no-burn” process, breaking down materials into their chemical constituents by applying high pressure and high temperature in the absence of oxygen.
