I didn't have that opportunity when I was in high school. If girls wanted to do anything sportive, they were expected to be cheerleaders or pompom girls.
Still remember the days when women's basketball at college hardly had any attendance, then the UConn women's basketball success phenomenon started and they were selling out arenas. Many other women programs followed such as Tennessee, Rutgers and Stanford. The rest is history. Sports channels like ESPN are dedicating almost as much time for the Women's bb tournament as they are for the men's.
