After 10+ years of brand promotion by GSK, those prescribing habits are hard to break. When blood panel reports come back flagging high Trigs the Dr knows giving you L will lower it and if your LDL bumps up, you just get a statin in the unlikely event you weren't already on one. All that and it has better insurance coverage and its dirt cheap.
