OT: Wow, down and back up on the same day! I would not dream of doing that now (64 years old). Did the down, stay at Phantom Ranch, and back up next day last year and 3 years ago with the wife. Had 3 co-workers (we are Firefighter/EMT) in there 40's, 50's and 60's do the Rim to Rim in one day a few months ago. I told them to do it over 2 days if they wanted to enjoy the trek but they would not listen to me. They made it but were sore for several days thereafter. (o: Grand Canyon is incredible but hiking it is just so much better!!!
