I should probably know better, but

I really hope that, for the sake of any of us at or approaching Medicare age, decisions regarding what medications and devices to approve aren't being influenced by lobbyists.

It's probably naive of me to believe that science and evidence would be the deciding factor. The good news for BIEL is that we have two years to work on our pitch before the act goes into effect.

I don't think you can pay a lobbyist to lobby the CMS to get a device approved for reimbursement, any more than you can pay a lobbyist to lobby with the FDA to get a device cleared by the FDA. The CMS and FDA are government entities that ENFORCE laws, not legislative entities that ENACT laws.

If BIEL hired a lobbyist to get RecoveryRx "approved with an insurance code," who would that lobbyist approach? Here's a CMS org chart -- which department listens to lobbyists?
