Longs have held religiously for years, even in a vacuum of commercial news. I would suspect any material news (while not necessarily forcing shorts to cover) would certainly solidify the confidence of longs and others, putting extreme pressure on the bulk of shorts. I wouldn’t mind seeing that phenomena play out.
