I would think that whatever is the optimal solution for Kelly is what is going to happen.
With optimal I mean that she will need the support of Keith and Rick, not sure if I remember his name correctly, to make it happen.
I would love to work under her leadership but she just isn’t the right person to represent BIEL to the external world and that includes conducting negotiations for a merger or buyout.

Which patents exactly do feel have significant value?

All of the original patents (the basic technology of the device) expired long ago. I know they have some more recent IP, but isn't it mostly about how to attach the device, back belt, insole version, different applicator tapes, etc?

If there is any value to be had here, it is in building a brand (which they have not succeeded at). The technology itself is probably not protected in a robust way anymore.
