Most of us here are in this camp. Unfortunately since Reagan the Republican party has been moving away from a fair taxation system and attempting to destroy the social safety net developed for seniors over the previous 50 years. Of course Dems have been expanding it to anyone with a hang nail. Twenty years ago, even 10 years ago I voted fairly conservatively at the local level because we can't just print money to support everyone's idea of a fair society. Of course I can't do that any longer. Republicans are not a financially conservative party with a laissez-faire attitude toward social issues, they've had to embrace Christian fundamentalism to remain relevant. When Christo-fascism and deep seated racism are a component of your core values, the party is un-American. I agree, we should be respectful of each other's opinions. This is a difficult time for most Americans and it's not clear our systems are strong enough to force hand-wringing Dems to do the right thing. Obama did nothing to reign in financial malfeasance, and Biden will do nothing to reign in Osama Bin Trump. Nothing. So in the end which party is worse? We're making a new Munich Agreement and Neville Chamberlain is our advocate. As I said, these are difficult times for most of us, let's at least be civil.
