Everybody produces several different type of Amyloid proteins. The ratio of the different types appears to be different between people. Also the body's ability to clear the amyloid proteins from the brain seem to vary between people. There is some indication that the APOE4++ patients have a reduced facility to remove amyloid plaque.
It appears that there a likely multiple processes that can produce amyloid plaque build up in the brain. So it looks like there may be multiple causes that have a similar outcome.
