When I was a kid, I had an old guy showing me how simple it is to drive a car, while he was driving, I was in the back seat looking as he said, "It's easy, you have the steering wheel to steer, the accelerator to go, and this pedal is the braaa......." Smashed into the back of a parked tractor trailer. Hit the wheels and bounced back. Guy in the rig came out and asked if we were ok,

OH boy does that sound familiar except for the brinks truck.

All of us have a duty to not only society but to ourselves to take licenses away. I did it for my mom and her husband - Of course this means I drive them a lot but we also set a schedule of errands once a week at same time. He was essentially driving a bumper car. every time i dropped by I would check for new dents and scratches on his car.

However my biggest fear was an accident or a kid getting run over and that I would feel responsible as I had not acted appropriately. I would not let you leave my house piss loaded drunk and drive home at any time. So why would I allow someone to drive when they cannot see and kids are walking home from school.

I also have pledged to my kids that I will give up mine nice and early. Matter of fact I could give it up now in my 50s and just let others drive me around.
