I worked in recovery, more specific, mortgage recovery. I was doing this from 2007-2011. I worked JPM/Chase, WAMU, US Bank, Cap One, etc... All the big boys. Teams were set up to serve specific banks, and I worked most all of them. I saw with my own eyes, who was doing what.
It's true others were also bad, but WAMU was one of the absolute worst. People would threaten to quit all the time if they were put on the WAMU contract. Some of the loans were basically a name, address, and phone number... That's it. Lots didn't even employer information.
Bottom line, they all took advantage of the foolish policies, and even pushed the limits on no income/ no doc loans. They had appraisers in their pocket, jacking up prices way beyond reality.
It was a real eye opener... And just sickening.
