By "individual decisions," I did not mean to imply humans only. Investment algorithms make countless decisions, each of which contributes to the aggregate. And I agree that they are programmed to exploit the market. I think every investment decision tries to exploit the market. If I remember your posts well enough, I think you believe the hedge funds, MM's, etc. program their algo's to exploit the market illegally and/or right at the edge of legality, and if you do, I agree with that, too.

That's incorrect. And the trading algorithms employed by market makers and high speed traders are not to take directional bets, manipulate stock prices, and steal your shares. They're to hedge directional risk (for MMs handling a trade book) and to arbitrage fractions of pennies from volume order flow timing differences (HFT).

There's no boogieman hiding under the bed. No one is being made poor by systemic stealism. There are people who unwisely speculate in biotech. And other stocks. And crypto.... It's a sad tale. And the conspiracies fly.....

That's a crock of BS. No computer can be programmed to predict what a universe of individuals and institutions will do next. IMPOSSIBLE!
