Yes, it takes a long time to get drugs to market. The average is 15-20 years. You should probably take that up with the FDA and legislators.

They could have burned $100 billion for all I care. What does it matter? You don’t have to pay back that money. You invest at these levels and reap the benefits when this gets approved. If the approval takes 50 years and you invest at year 49, do you really care what happened in the previous 49 years? It is irrelevant.

The estimated median capitalized research and development cost per product (new therapeutic drugs and biologic agents) was $1.1 billion. (JAMA March 2020). But, you already knew that didn't you...you genius you. But to your larger point, could not agree more- should all be free! management should not get paid!!, nor researchers!!!, clinicians!!!!, nor anyone else!!!!!, ever!!!!!!.
