Hoskuld- Thanks for the reply. My undergrad major was Physics with an equivalent minor in math. A Statistics course was included. That was many years ago, before stat programs (almost before computers!), but it was not for the feint of heart. I've seen a noted research scientist publish research who used the wrong type of statistical analysis (computer generated) in his work (about twenty years ago). Caused a major blow up with those who had majored in statistical analysis.
It is undoubtedly far easier today, but you've still got to know what you're doing. I sincerely hope they have not done this in-house.
