Yikes' ,creepy. I would have woke up in a cold sweat. Here's something that happened to me for real last night .
I was getting gas at the local station and a woman came to me crying and begging for a ride to a nearby motel. She had no shoes on and was as filthy as a chimney sweep, also observably pregnant. She said her husband had hit her and she was trying to get away. I took her for a ride to the motel and the person who was supposed to make the reservation never called.
I took her back here to my place because I felt bad and in the back of my mind I thought I was being played so I didn't sleep a wink. She took a long hot shower , we stayed up talking about her recent experience living under a god damn bridge and she slept very well.
She told me her goal was to get back to her home in Delaware and that she had a bus ride lined up from a local politician there. She was going to call her friend to pick her up and take her to the bus station but that never happened. She strapped her backpack back on this morning, put on an old ass pair of boots I had given her and went right back to the god damn bridge leaving behind the food I bought for her last night.
I just don't get it. I can only do so much for strangers but this one looked really bad so I intervened. Then she goes right back to the same situation.... it blows me away. I gave her my phone number so we'll see if it rings anytime soon.
