maybe covering old ground here: I grew up in Middletown, on Cherry Tree Farm Rd. Dad worked for NJ Natural, then for ConEd when in the '70s he bought ConEd shares hand over fist when it was practically a penny stock. Dad's boss, the executive VP, warned Dad he was throwing his money away. Everyone thought NYC was going to implode. We knew the Van Zandts.
I never knew, until maybe 10 years ago, that a tiny old unkempt cemetery where friends and I sometimes explored as kids was where one of George Washingon's former drummer boys was buried. Just a few blocks from my house.
When I finished school my folks left NJ for their old stomping grounds in Mississippi in the '80s. The "Free State of Jones County" where I am now. I still have a chunk of those ConEd shares.
And a nice chunk of NWBO.
