Yes, i think the only way is a share recall. Otherwise, it's a matter of just watching trading algorithms, monitoring short volume data and price movement.

One way to expose shorts is moving private or offering dividends as seen with numerous tickers including $MMTL#$

Yes... the presence (or absence) of naked shorts is EASILY verified in extremely low volume stocks... as DBMM has been for LONG stretches during the past 5 years!

All traders need to do their own DD... not get it from the internet!
