Not naive. I have many years experience moderating many boards. I can see all the deleted posts on those boards. Valid posts that were deleted can be appealed and Admin will restore them.
Mods are allowed their own opinions and can post whatever they want, like everyone else, within TOS. If 80% of posters share a similar opinion, then the other 20% may feel outnumbered, but has no bearing on deletions.
If you see TOS violations, use the "report" button.
