Well, cold comfort, but at least you didn't pull a Toronto and goat a huge lead.

I guess but they didn't even show a pulse. And for us mets fans this started last weekend, when they played terrible against the braves. The problem for most mets fans, is we seen the bad ways this could go, the bullpen, they didn't hit (which to be fair they didn't), but we never seen the starting pitching falling like it did. This team for me will always be remember next to 2007, perhaps the worst year to be a mets fan in my opinion. Yes there were much worse teams, but none left you more in the 5 stages of grief than that team. And Trust me I don't mean that litterally because at the end of the day there are far more important things than baseball. But just to give you the idea of the process.

As for the mets going flat, it could of simply been they couldn't handle the pressure. As for Scherzer, who knows if this is the beginning of the drop off (Hopefully it is not). Or he tried to pitch through that injury, and he really couldn't effectively, because he was still hurt. But even than his body may be starting to breakdown.

As for the padres, you have to understand some teams play other teams well. The padres have won every series they played the mets. The padres are not a better team than the mets, but they are when they plays the mets directly. The Phillies are not as good as the mets, but they are not 5-14 bad which is what they played.

Now with degomm, he is one of a gazillion FA. Technically Degromm is a tough call, but anymore than 3 years, I lean on letting him go. I also have thought about Bassitt after these two horrible starts, and jumping on that for a decision, might not be great analysis, but I thought about this, he is very slow, and the pitch clock might be a problem for him. So Might not want to resign him.

Scherzer undoubtly will probably make about 20-25 starts if we are lucky. Hopefully they are good starts.

Walker And Carrasco. Are also FA, Walker is probably the guy I would want to sign the most, but it is all on price.

Truth be told pretty much the whole mets FA is free agents, the bullpen including diaz, the CF is a free agent in nimmo.

They have tons of choices, for them to be good in 2023, they are gonna have to spend a ton of money. And it may need to be subtracting old players and add new players. This will be no easy task, too make them good again. Of course Baty and Alvarez being good next year would help. But can't depend on that. All is just my opinion, and I could always be wrong though.
