Dr Belt pretty well covered how ECUs glitch in Teslas. Its induced currents in the ground wiring.

Heres how SUA can occur in Teslas from electromagnetic induce currents during geomagnetic unrest

causes the ground voltage to rise due to the voltage drop across RGND. This, in turn, causes the APP sensor output signal to rise without the accelerator pedal being pressed.

Its believed a voltage depression in the RGND In Teslas causes the voltage regulators to increase output to compensate, explaining the surge in voltage in APP sensor ground. The only question is where is the leakage coming from that cause what's being observed?
Electromagnetic fields inducing currents in the ground wiring provides an explanation for the leak and is believed to be contributing factor in a fire in a battery storage facility last April in China.

(5) The lack of adequate electrical isolation measures for power electronic equipment in DC distribution. If the grounding work in the DC power distribution system is not properly handled, electromagnetic circulation problems can easily cause leakage current when the system is running. The accumulated heat due to the leakage current in battery cabinets, cables et al. may cause local high temperatures, leading to potential fire of the batteries as a safety risk.

EM fields induce currents in the ground wiring causing voltage depression. This leads to voltage regulators try to compensate which can lead to overvoltages and subsequent fire.

E3 can also affect subtransmission and distribution systems by causing harmonic distortion and voltage depression. The voltage regulators at the substation will attempt to correct for low voltage levels on distribution circuits. This attempt can result in overvoltages when the E3 stimulus decays to a low value

While Voltage depression is occuring,  the Accelerator position pedal sensor can stop responding correctly.

ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR FAULTY: CAUSE OF FAILURE
A failure could have a number of different causes:

Damaged cables or connections on the accelerator pedal sensor
Missing voltage and ground supply
Faulty electronic evaluation unit in the sensor

The faulty APP sensor can then send bad information to the computer causing things like sudden acceleration.

It's all because a bad throttle position sensor is sending garbled messages to the engine computer. You may experience:

Poor acceleration
Surging acceleration
Hesitation
Sudden acceleration when you are not pushing the gas pedal
