it would be nice to see some insider buying at $10/share

Surely would be. Peter Lynch said always look for insider buying. SAVA is up 63% since its insider buying started on after August 16.

Maybe it has something to do with the massive amount of options he holds

I love to see insider buying as well, but looking at the compensation tables, I would point out that Cassava stuffs more cash into Mr. Barbier's pockets than Anavex does for Herr Doktor Missling. In 2021 Barbier had a salary of $975,000 and was awarded a bonus of $750,000 for a total of $1,725,000. Missling, on the other hand, had a salary of $550,000 and was awarded a bonus of $110,000. So Barbier had much more cash to throw into market purchases. Correct me if I am wrong, but while he did exercise some options, I don't see any open market purchases by him over the past year..

Pumper companies pay cash bonuses that Insiders use to buy stock to attract retail. Real companies use options, rather than cash to align the employees with long term incentives. The options have no value unless the stock gains from the date the options are granted, not so with cash. Options are more long term in nature and may be more tax efficient.

Pumper companies write shareholder letters insinuating they have a platform drug on thin science driving the shares up 50%, real companies prove they have a platform drug with multiple clinical trials in various indications with outstanding results.
