I am just not a short seller at heart, but you are right, an option bought at the right time can make a lot of money. But I am trying to change that. I shorted this down cycle at 25% and I plan to continue to be a short seller from now on. I will continue to increase my exposure as my trades make money.
Your argument for short with options can also be used to buy calls in an up market. Lots of ways to make money.
