Almost always do when a storm hits. However not 100% of events make it into the news.

See lowjack, there was a minor CME caused disturbance or short duration solar wind late the 26th/early 27th and then this happened:

On August 27, Twitter user Houndstooth_Belle said her grandfather’s Tesla Model S Plaid caught fire. The vehicle’s computer informed him that the left rear motor malfunctioned and that he should not exceed 65 mph (105 kph) with it. After driving 2 miles at under 18 mph, the car caught fire. The man with the most mileage in Tesla vehicles retweeted that message to ask Tesla to fix these drive units one more time. According to Hansjörg von Gemmingen, they are not good.

I commend Tesla for finally installing a prompt that warned of anomalies in the vehicle and for the fact the AI caught it; these are positive steps in the right direction since there is no stopping electromagnetic induced currents in S3XY mobiles. It should have instructed him to pull over however and not keep driving. Had a voltage spike occurred in the one motor, that could have sent this person speeding away and/or veering off road. Fortunately motor fires do not usually result in owner cremation; high voltage battery fires are another thing.

Pedestrian hit as Tesla jumps curb, smashes into tree in Vancouver

First incident ive found after the CME impact yesterday that you mentioned. You know Teslas just love to hit trees during geomagnetic unrest.

As he turned around, he could see that a Tesla had hopped onto the curb, and he witnessed the pedestrian being flung a “few feet in the air.”
