No question Zip, that it seems (maybe it has always been that way but for some reason we notice it now big time) that in these days, once people have opted for some line of thinking, it is the darnedest thing to try to change their minds regardless of whatever mounds of evidence you provide.

However, I would say that the example you used is not specifically the best. Religion, is, the faith in something that has no evidence. So in reality presenting evidence to someone who is religious is useless because their belief starts out defying evidence.

This MO nonsense is a good example. If you look at this biomarker increase in the MO arm, those increases are no where the level you would find if say the MO completely blocked the statin. Then looking at that group again, the results show that there was not an increased incidence of MACE in that group compared to the rest of the placebo group. It is not reasonable logic to look at the data and claim that MO had this huge negative effect. But as you say, evidence doesn't seem to matter to some - particularly if they have an agenda or what to pretend that they know more than everyone else, or in the case of some doctors, don't want to admit that something simple like EPA sitting under noses all this time turns out to be a great preventative for CVD.

That’s called faith. Faith “is the evidence of things not seen”. Science is the evidence of things observed.
