FYI **DEPENDS** on your broker



TDA sucks imo, they are one of the brokers I hated having when it was involving any type of settlement dates

I had one stock I was up +$18K on post split
other brokers like ETRADE fronted their clients with shares same day, and waited for actual settlement from the transfer agent

but brokers like TDA make you wait until they actually have the stock from the transfer agent, and that took 10 days for me... which by the time the shares showed up in my account I lost all the $18K in profits

meanwhile, other traders that had brokers like ETRADE got to sell on day 1
