Shatner is still going strong. Besides appearing in a new series of ads for Priceline, he was a featured speaker at the Tampa Bay Comic-Con this past weekend, which is where he would have been when he heard Nichelle Nichols passed away.
Shatner almost certainly doesn't need the money, even though I know the Comic and Sci-Fi conventions pay good coin. I am sure he does it for his ego. I forgot how much Shatner made off Priceline when it went public, but as their spokesman from Day 1, he negotiated a large equity position which, unfortunately for him, he sold early on rather than in the 4 figures range. But, he still likely cleared tens of millions for it even before his paychecks from his continuing spokesman role.
