You are correct. The 2007 Peace Prize was awarded jointly to Al Gore and the International Panel on Climate Change, a large NGO, that publishes reports every few years about the climate. I am sure he was a bright guy with a distinguished career and I wish him the best. However, he is not a Nobel laureate (with a share of the Nobel prize) but rather a contributor to an organization that shared a Nobel prize.
There were hundred of PhD contributors to the IPCC 4th Assessment report and hundred more contributors like PhD students, technicians, secretaries, etc. I don't understand why climate scientists continue to make this false claim. His claim would be similar to a graduate student who worked in the lab of a laureate or a collaborator who co-wrote a few papers with a laureate stating that they had a share of the prize. Though I know several people falling in that category, they have never claimed to have a share.
