Looks like Korea has a red clay soil from the appearance of the potato crop.

I would think the plastic bags containing the carrots are like a Wall O Water and contributes heat and moisture. Maybe a miniature greenhouse would be another comparison.

I think I will establish a dedicated area for carrot growing in volume or use that Korean plastic bag approach!
