Yes, I suspect that this change to the NYAS schedule was very much due to a last minute complication. I believe she was traveling (perhaps where you are in the UK?), and you're likely very right... she probably has come down with Covid.
So if that's the case, I would think that she's had all her vaccines and so she should be fine, give or take some unpleasant symptoms.
What a bummer.
Meanwhile, as I'm sure you know... Paul Mulholland is extremely well respected and well known in the UK. I am fairly certain that he was the main writer of the 2018 JTM article, and so it's likely he is very involved with any preparation of the current journal article. So to my thinking, while he's not Linda Liau (no one can replace her), he will do a fine job of presenting the data she was to share.
