Sounds like they are on to something.. Sugarcane dates back to 8000 BCE would think they have looked into using tthis as a filler for animals at some point in time to know if any long term effects on animals. I guess animals for production are nit alive long enough for long term effects .. sad for them..
Anything got to be better then corn or gmo hay, may as well live as life without gastro issues.lol..
" around 80 + Million tons of waste sugarcane fiber known as Bagasse that the sugar Mills pay big bucks to Landfill. They pay to throw it away!"

USDA says
"Some of the crops such as almonds, artichokes, figs, and raisins are exclusive to California, and the state is the largest exporter of almonds
California by itself is the fifth largest economy in the world. In 2017 it sent $369 billion to the US Treasury, some $13 billion more than it received. But its contribution is more than monetary. Its agricultural industries supply the nation with more fresh fruir, vegetables, nuts, and other agricultural products than any other state.
California is the world’s 5th largest supplier of food, cotton fiber, and other agricultural commodities. "
When people talk smack on Calif being so populated and Califonias wasting all the water with So Calif watering a desert etc etc. think about that 80 percent our water allotement goes towards items in your pantrys and refridgerators, that wine grown in the u.s. came from calif most likely.. Our population is off the hook making all that happen.
We deal with packed freeways and over population to feed you all.
