Can you make minor modifications to a patented process using mostly the same process without infringing on the patent?

I am no expert, but this sounds like flimsy rationale

The combo trials are sponsored by the National Cancer Institute which gives money to the UCLA School of Medicine annually to conduct trials and research. Thus, Northwest Bio has nothing to do with the UCLA combo trials. At the same time, whatever the alternate manufacturing methodology is, ATL DC is essentially the same as DCVax-L. UCLA can't use the same manufacturing methodology, neither can they use the same name.

Dr. Bala:

Nobody can except LL, Dr. NghiemPhu (possibly), and may be some of the colleagues of LL at the UCLA School of Medicine.

ahp123:

you're absolutely right .. and that's exactly what my argument is ... thank you
and therefore others can not say anything about whether their version falls under NWBO rights / patents ..

So what DID Dr. NghiemPhu say about ATL-DC and DCVax-L in a Q&A last year at UCLA?
