Wife’s renal dept acknowledges the clinical
benefit in using Lupkynis for severe LN .
Problem is it’s currently overpriced on a QALY ( quality adjusted life years ) basis so insurers require patients to fail existing therapies first …. and patients still need to take steriods with it .

Yes they can taper the steroid use faster with Lupkynis then with other therapies …BUT the patients hate the steroids for all the reasons you should know by now .

Any LN therapy that also requires steroid use is prone to patient discontinuing that therapy

If you manage to overcome your hubris then consider those CKD / LN drugs in development that protect kidney function for LN patients without steriods being needed as well
