You are missing my point.

Taking a pill is the easy way and many people will take the easy way. And I hope it works for them and me.

Doing the other things that lead to a healthy life style require a bit more effort. I say that as I fight with my own weight issues.

Of course insurance companies will pay for 2-73 if it turns out to be a successful anti-aging tonic. That will save them a lot of money.

Consider that insurance companies pay for statins. The number needed to treat for statins is obscene. Depending on how you ask the question it can be as low as 100 or as high as 1000.

That number doesn't take into account the side effects.

By the time the ensuing lawsuits and subsequent appeals play out blarcamesine will be off patent.

My insurance company makes you pay more if you smoke or don't get a yearly physical. Understandable.

But penalizing people for not taking a drug with a brand new MOA(which crosses the blood -brain barrier no less!) would not be the cakewalk you describe.
