Apple just needs us not to go bankrupt to preserve their agreement. Now that I think about it, that may be what has kept us on life support all these years: a trickle of inputs, just enough so we don’t croak, but they don’t need to make us rich. Better, perhaps, for these big firms to keep us poor and dependent.
