Ralphey…I find your comments troubling. I retired from the pharmaceutical business back in 2019. Your comment regarding how you have stopped prescribing Vascepa reminds me of a small handful of clinicians over the years that did the same thing. They would stop prescribing a drug and even tak patients off because of something that the rep did, said etc, etc… The sad thing, the medications helped their patients.
This behavior was most frustrating for my managers and their sales reps.
Obviously you are free to do whatever you like. Stop prescribing, sell the stock, help yourself. Having said that, why did you prescribe in the first place? Did you believe in the drug? Was your motivation more around contributing to the volume in order to boost share value?
This whole experience has been positive and frustrating, mostly frustrating for all of us. If I may guess, I say your comments are out of frustration, which is understandable. If you wanted to write an article about your patients experience with Vascepa, then I presume you observed efficacy and positive patient outcomes. In the end, I have no doubt that you will do the right thing as you work to help your patients.
