Sadly, the internet has pretty much destroyed the newspaper business. Outside of the bigger cities, which often had a morning paper and an afternoon paper, just about any population center of any size published a newspaper seven days a week. Smaller burgs would at least publish three days a week. Even that was enough for the publisher to make a decent middleclass living for him and his family. Even in slightly larger burgs that published seven days a week the owner of the newspaper was one of that burg's richest citizens, along with the owner of the local funeral home, and the owners of the local heating oil franchises.

In my area more than one NPR outlet is avail...

I thought everyone had at least three. We have four, but I suppose in a way we're in a sweet spot, and get channels from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. But usually all of them offer programming that's also shown on the others. And one of them is into a lot of stuff nobody would want to watch.

Just took a look. It reminded me to catch up with The Seaside Hotel...
