I would disagree on the snake oil bit. Hemp, in all it's varieties has been part of the human diet for eons. It was only in the 20th century that pharma and Congress colluded to illegalize it and propoganded it was senate oil. Time to wake up and realize that a very few have profited from ruining the health of millions by degrading the diet then selling pharma pills.

As far as verticle integration, having one's own farms, maybe in the future it will be a good idea - but the use should be more than CBD,etc. Bring back whole foods, bring back letting the livestock feed on it, bring back sustainable fabrics and building materials. It took 100years to wake up to the detriment illegalizing this plant has done, it will take some time to build it back and help heal the environment.

Big Pharma is not our friend.

8000 years of use would disagree with that, and why would the body have canabinoid receptors then?? The only threat here is to BIG PHARMA and their bottom line since they sell poison with it's multiple side effects, whereas CBD a KNOWN anti-inflammatory backed by numerous studies has almost ZERO side effects, and CBD is pretty much useless to Big Pharma since Pharma can't take it patent it and/or charge a fortune for the processing since it's costs are minimal from seed to shelf.
