WTM, understood. Personally, I try not to park my Lincoln next to a Tesla or any EV.
Within the next 7 years, I see a market for a company to convert EVs to Hydrogen Fuel Cells. It's not the danger of the EVs catching fire and exploding but the battery replacement cost will be a common complaint.

thanks for posting this WTM.

Obviously there is a lot more detail that would need to be provided for us to make the decision they did but the operational cost per vehicle isn't always the critical decision point.

In California they have done a number of studies on the total cost of ownership and operating Electric buses and there were some very basic questions that start to favor FC v Battery . These may not apply to the French city. Things like length of routes (have flexibilty to run any bus on longer routes), the inclines of routes, the climate, all favor FC. The operating hours refil v recharging.

The space and cost of the recharging infrastructure (their hydrogen set up seems to have been funded will their electric set up be funded as well?). Did they have some BEV buses already so have the supply and set up for recharging 51 - thats a lot of space and stations

Did they calculate the dropping price of hydrogen and why use only green for now? I soul had have looked at non-green hydrogen supply for say 75% of their need.

Or are the elected officials playing politics? it is a surprise that french city would do this given the national focus on hydrogen but it isnt all about mobility solutions

WTM - 6 Times more expensive sounds about right.

It’s always good to read opposing views. Anyone who disagrees is usually left holding the bag when an investment tanks. It would be good to know how this project was supported and by who?
