Actually, their patents are quite clever. They've just needed a huge investment to develop them.

YouTube became successful using powerful video compression, that MAXD has stated claims to, because they had the financial backing of Google to be able to hire many engineers, write the software, build the server farms, etc.

If MAXD partners, or partners-to-be, finally feel comfortable that MAXD has adequate rights over their own patents, because of the global settlement, they very well may have decided to drop a lot of investment money into building a streaming audio/video platform, like we see potentially happening in Asia right now.

That would mean, in my opinion, that other big companies with deep pockets, could actually fund the development of other competitive streaming platforms that end up with top-notch compressed video, and excellent audio to boot. It would be like YouTube on steroids because of the enhanced MAXD sound!
