ROTFLMAO!!!! You are correct in most circumstances

poor 72 yr old whose door the cops went to late at night
answered the door in his underwear when they banged like hell
on the door...was NO threat and they tazed him and messed
him up bad...when he fell....was in the hospital for months

True but that negates the choice of non lethal force. This can be corrected by better training, especially when confronted with real world criminals or life and death situations. I see your point however.
