The choice for non lethal force has always been available, with both the officer and the one being confronted by the officer. Stupid decisions bring stupid prizes.
In real world confrontation, The taser creates more confusion and liability for the officer and less incentive for compliance. We expect too much from officers, and too little from perps. Split second hesitation costs officer lives. Perps are emboldened by current lawless government.
A taser could be useful, if there is enough force to secure a situation.
