It amazes me that the press reports always paint the inventor as the one wearing a black hat. Nobody mentions the standards bodies were created by the manufacturers who agreed to license the technology adopted within global standards. They also never mention that manufacturers have been on the receiving end of cash flow and profits during these multiple year negotiations. As a result, the inventors have been forced to enter into survival licensing agreements or sell their patent portfolios. The standards bodies never created a dispute system which has placed the smaller inventors on unlevel playing fields around the world.
