West Virginia voters must like Manchin - he was elected WV's sec'ty of state, governor, and has been WV's U.S. senator since 2010.
It isn't just Manchin. The West Virginians often elect Dems to national office; rarely to state positions. Jay Rockefeller, however, served as both governor of the state, and a senator.
And as it happens, he's still alive, and not even all that ancient, if you consider one's 80s relative youth. I wonder if he could lend a hand with the Manchin problem.
